Teacher Statement: I believe the flute is an extension of one’s own voice. I focus on nurturing each of my student’s unique capabilities by creating individualized teaching strategies. My ultimate goal to create life-long musicians. In general, my students learn the best practices for sound production (tone), kinesthetic awareness (posture), and how to speak their musical ideas with confidence.
Education:
Bachelor of Music, University of Louisville (KY)
Master of Music, Flute Performance, University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Doctorate of Music Florida State University
Background: I have over nine years of studying flute pedagogy. I’ve held teaching assistantships with Dr. Shelley Binder (Univ. of TN), and Eva Amsler (FSU). I currently play with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra (NC) and have held past positions with the Oak Ridge Symphony (TN), Knoxville Symphony Orchestra (TN), and most recently with the Panama City Pops Orchestra (FL), Northwest Florida Orchestra and Sinfonia Gulf Coast (FL).  I play professionally with the Cypress Duo, a flute & guitar duo.
