Up to 3 finalists will be selected to perform for a panel of judges and the Flute Fair audience in November 2021 (TBD). The first place winner will receive a cash prize of $1000 and will be invited to perform at an event during the Raleigh Area Flute Association’s 2022-2023 season. The second place winner will receive a cash prize of $500. The third place winner will receive a cash prize of $250.

July 2020 Update: RAFA’s flute choirs will not meet in person in the fall of 2020. Auditions will take place virtually but have not been scheduled at this time. Directors will reach out to current members about participating virtually.

In addition to CDC recommendations and guidelines, we are closely monitoring scientific studies that pertain to flute-playing:

·       University of Colorado Boulder: International Coalition to Study Aerosol-Producing Activities (preliminary results for woodwind and brass instruments were received July 10; considerations are still general and not yet official)
